Going on from an earlier post 'The Power of the Blood of Christ – Andrew Murray' . Murray now takes to what our Lord Jesus said about the 'blood'.
Murray starts with John the Baptist pointing to Christ's dual role.
- The Lamb of God – Takes away the sin of the world.
- The one who would baptize with the Holy Spirit.
When all that the OT taught about the blood (being fulfilled), can the dispensation of the spirit begin. The shedding of Christs blood (the Lamb of God) must procede the outpouring of the spirit.
The purpose for which Jesus had come into the world was His death on the cross,
That it was a necessary condition of redemption and life which he came to bring. The shedding of His blood was necessary.
John 6:30;59 (Bread of life/He who drinks my blood)
V54 "but anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life". It is through dying for us (Shedding his blood) we have life.
"Jesus confirmed the teachings of the OT offerings – that man can live only through the death of another (substitute), and so obtain a life that through ressurection has become eternal".
Murray draws our attention to the fact that Jesus Himself cannot make any man a partaker in this eternal life to which Christ procured for us, except throught the shedding of His precious blood, and causing us to drink it.
'Not Without Blood' can eternal Life be ours!
